How long will it take to install the device to my motorcycle?

The S7 Pro should always be installed by a thatchams approved engineer and be booked through MotoHalo, the fitting will take roughly an hour. If you are self installing our Lite product the process is very simple and should take a maximum 30 minutes to install by following the instructions provided.

We offer two types of device. One is professionally installed, hardwired and covertly installed by a qualified engineer. Our standard device is self-installed to the positive and negative battery terminals — typically within 15 minutes.

Yes you will require our App subscription to use your device and track your vehicle, we have a choice of subscriptions to choose from.

The Lite product is a self installation product which you can buy and literally follow the instructions to fit yourself on your vehicle. Our S7 Pro is fully Thatcham approved and requires and installation from one of our Thatcham approved engineers. You can book an appointment when you purchase the device. Both devices come with an immobiliser option.

Is one better for insurance? The professionally installed version is typically Thatcham Approved (e.g., S7 Pro), which is often a requirement for insurance policies on high-value or high-risk vehicles (motorbikes, cars, etc.). The self-fit version provides excellent tracking but may not meet strict insurance requirements for a “Thatcham Approved” system. Always check with your insurer.

The Thatcham device is highly secure and covert. The hardwired nature makes it very difficult for thieves to locate and tamper with. By comparison, the self fit device is generally easy to find and remove if a thief knows where to look, as it connects directly to the battery terminals.

Self-Fit: Typically around 15 minutes for the simple two-wire connection and activation via the mobile app.

Professional Install: Usually takes around 1-2 hours, carried out by a certified engineer at an approved dealership or location.
No. The self-fit device usually connects directly to the positive and negative battery terminals and can be installed with basic household tools (like a screwdriver to access the battery).
Once the device is physically installed (self-fit or professional), you simply scan the QR code that comes with the device and complete the activation process via the Moto Halo mobile app (available on Android/iOS).
